Children's Therapy Services

We provide specialist therapy services for children between the ages of 0 -19, to support them to achieve their potential.

Description of Service

We provide a specialist assessment which enables a clinical diagnosis to be made. We then support the child with the most effective services on offer.

We provide:
  • The child and their carers with a specialist programme of care that promotes the development needed to acquire the skills to live as independent a life as possible and reach their maximum potential
  • A specialist assessment of children with special educational needs and to advise and recommend ways forward to the local educational authority, supported by the accompanying legal documentation
  • Partnership working with education, social services and others to ensure that any therapy programme is fully integrated into the child's care
  • Specialist telephone consultation offering advice and reassurance for those who need it
  • Training for parents/carers and staff working with these children, in a variety of settings
We do not provide:
  • Occupational Therapy for children with developmental co-ordination disorder

Waiting times for the service

0-18 weeks depending on priority. 

Who can make a referral?

The team accepts referrals for occupational therapy and physiotherapy from health professionals. A referral criteria applies for occupational therapy.

Speech and language therapy accepts referrals from all sources including self-referral.
