Community NHS Services Welcome New Parkinson's Disease Specialist Nurse

A Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist has joined the team supporting the south of the county at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS).

Jane Brigginshaw will be delivering care to patients across the Suttons, Gosberton, Moulton, Sutterton, Spalding and those registered at Littlebury surgery in Holbeach.

Specialist nurses support patients through diagnosis, help them to maintain their health while living with a condition, and continue to provide expert care and guidance to those in need of palliative and end of life care. They also work closely with other health and social care professionals to help plan patient care.

Jane is the second Parkinson's Disease Specialist Nurse to join community services in Lincolnshire. She brings a wealth of nursing experience to the role, having worked as a nurse for 12 years in community nursing teams in Spalding, Boston and Bourne, and latterly as a case manager.

Jane said: "It has been a very exciting and busy time helping to set up the service in south Lincolnshire. Having worked as a generalist nurse for so long, it is nice to be able to focus my skills on what is a very complex condition. My previous role as a case manager has helped to give me some very valuable and relevant skills in supporting patients in every aspect of their care. I look forward to meeting more patients and their families in the coming weeks."

Ginny Blackoe, General Manager for south Lincolnshire at LCHS, said: "This is an exciting development for our services in south Lincolnshire and one which will help us to improve care and quality of life for those living with Parkinson's Disease. Jane will not only be supporting patients in their own homes to manage their care and educate them about how to remain well at home, but will also be sharing her knowledge and expertise with other nursing colleagues."
