G_IPC_10 SOP for Notification and Surveillance of Tuberculosis
This document has been produced to support the staff of the Community Tuberculosis (TB) Service and the Countywide Community Respiratory Service maintain a robust notification process and prompt reporting of surveillance data, in relation to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) cases (suspected / confirmed).
The aim of this guidance is to assist in:
- the appropriate and timely notification of MTB cases (suspected / confirmed).
- ensuring all suspected / confirmed MTB cases are notified to the Community TB Service, the identification of outbreaks and incidents
- the timely and appropriate control measures to be instigated, the monitoring of disease trends and
- inform local policy and monitor the MTB service outcomes.
This guidance specifically concentrates on;
the notification processes for MTB cases (suspected / confirmed) and
the surveillance data reporting for MTB cases (suspected / confirmed) within Lincolnshire. The surveillance data will include all cases formally notified within Lincolnshire, all clinically indicated cases and all those patients residing in Lincolnshire but have been diagnosed outside of the county (where known).
