P_CS_36 Blood Glucose and Ketone Monitoring
The purpose of these guidelines is to provide a framework for safe practice and guidance to registered and unregistered staff on blood glucose monitoring, to adult patients in community settings.
To provide information and to lay out policy regarding extra-laboratory glucose monitoring,
in order to: -
- standardise procedures
- improve Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- set out training mechanisms
- minimise unnecessary testing and costs
- minimise risks to patients and improve quality of care
Patients Covered - Patients aged 18yrs or over with diabetes who are required to have blood glucose readings.
Target Users - All staff who undertake blood glucose monitoring on patients within Lincolnshire Community Health Services (LCHS).
