The team at the Johnson Hospital in Spalding have been busy this year fundraising and purchasing lots of items to support the patients in their care.

Following a generous donation by the pupils at Spalding Grammar School, the paediatric physiotherapy team were able to purchase lots of new equipment for their patients to use during their rehabilitation.

Staff displaying personalised stickers for brave young patientsPatients can also now enjoy drinks and snacks from the new hostess trolley which is being used in the outpatients and day case areas of the hospital.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference. That's why the team decided to spend a small amount of money to purchase some stickers to reward the brave young patients attending clinics in the outpatients area.

 

 

Supporting Staff Health & Wellbeing

The staff health and wellbeing fund has been used over the past year to Staff football team posing for photo at their monday night gatheringsupport staff with setting up sports groups such as netball and football.

The 'Monday Night Football' in Lincoln now has over 40 members attending and an average weekly turn out of 15 members of staff coming along to let off steam after work.

Staff at Skegness Hospital set up a netball group with funds from our charity being used to pay for the netball court hire for six months. The group now have sponsorship from a local pub which paid for their new netball dresses.

Amazon Wish Lists

In December 2021 we trialled setting up Amazon wish lists for the Scarbrough Ward Therapy Dog (LCHS) and Langworth Ward (LPFT). These were both well supported with both wards receiving Christmas gifts from the wish lists including dog toys and treats for Rammie, and colouring pens, pencils, and jigsaws for patient activities at Langworth Ward!

Pronouns Matter Badges

We are committed to supporting LCHS and LPFT to improve Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within their Trusts. These pronoun badges were purchased and distributed to staff networks across LPFT to raise awareness of the importance of pronouns as part of gender identities.

Walking Aids & Laser Canes

Member of the Parkinson's team modelling the new walking aids purchased with charitable fundsFollowing a generous donation and public Pumpkins for Parkinson's campaign, the community Parkinson's service purchased a variety of walking aids, including a really cool laser cane, to help their patients remain independent and live at home for as long as possible.

 

 

 

Staff Wellbeing & Networks Support StudyLincolnshire Swans logo

Musiiwa Takavrasha, a registered nurse at LCHS, undertook a research project to explore how and why people do or do not access and engage with wellbeing and network support groups available for NHS staff in Lincolnshire during the pandemic. The project was undertaken on behalf of Lincolnshire Integrated Care System and has been supported by the University of Lincoln. Read the full report here.
