The Care Certificate is an identified set of 15 standards that health and social care workers adhere to in their daily working life. You will complete 15 workbooks, as well as a reflection and an observation in practice.

Who is this course for?

Designed with the non-regulated workforce in mind, the Care Certificate gives everyone the confidence that workers have the same introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high quality care and support.

What’s included?

YWEC is an identified set of 15 standards that non-clinical workers can utilise as the building blocks within their daily working life. You will complete 15 workbooks, as well as an observation in practice.

Who is this course for?

Designed for new non-clinical staff members as a development pathway to ensure confidence in essential skills relevant to administration based roles. This can also be used for development with the ability to pinpoint specific modules that may benefit an individual or organisation.

Functional Skills qualifications are designed to equip you with the practical skills you need to live, learn and work successfully. They provide you with a foundation for progression in employment and further education and will help to develop everyday skills.

Who is this course for?

Designed for individuals who wish to develop their practical and transferable skills in English and/or Maths in order to work confidently, effectively and independently. If you didn’t quite get the grades you wanted or needed at school in Maths or English, but want to progress onto further education, Functional Skills are an acceptable entry requirement for most universities and other higher education programmes.

The EDSQ framework defines the digital skills adults need to safely benefit from, participate in and contribute to the digital world. They include the following elements:

Who is this course for?

EDSQ are the newest set of qualifications to support adult learners in developing modern digital skills for everyday life and work. They are useful for those wanting to learn or update their IT skills and for those wanting to move onto further study programmes.

What’s included?

A short course designed to help build confidence and refresh numeracy skills, looking specifically at everyday tasks in the workplace.

Who is this course for?

This course is open to any individual (employed or not employed by LCHS) who wishes to develop their numeracy skills but are unsure as to how to go about it, or have concerns and anxiety around numbers. This course can be completed face to face or remotely and aims to build knowledge, confidence and understanding.

On completion of the Essential Numeracy Skills in Health and Social Care course, we will encourage learners to progress to Functional Skills or continue to work with our dedicated centre staff to build their confidence using additional short course numeracy programmes.

Who is this apprenticeship for?

Who is this apprenticeship for?

Senior healthcare support workers help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people. As an experienced support worker, you carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. You provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence. You may work in a range of services e.g., hospital, community, health or day case unit, birth centre or midwifery led unit, someone’s home, operating theatre, nursing or care home, assessment centre, hospice, school, prison, GP surgery, charity or voluntary organisation, working in partnership with individuals, families, carers and other service providers.

Pearson’s Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship

Who is this apprenticeship for?

This is an 15month developmental role in which the apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of a General Practice Assistant and a Customer Service Specialist. General Practice Assistants provide a support role carrying out both administrative duties as well as basic clinical duties. The role will support GPs to contribute to the smooth running of appointments and improving patient experience. The programme is underpinned by the L3 Customer Service Specialist qualification to help learners develop and apply the technical and behavioural knowledge and understanding required to become competent and successful in a patient facing, customer service specialist job role.

The apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The apprentice will be based, as an employee within their Primary Care General Practice.

At the end of the programme, the apprentice will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a General Practice Assistant and a Customer Service Specialist and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.

The apprentice will have an apprenticeship commitment agreement approved by both LCHS and will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence throughout this Apprenticeship.

During the education programme the apprentice will develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to work in today’s dynamic and changing healthcare environment. They will be required to commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the education programme within the 15 month period.

The degree apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The apprentice will be based, as an employee within Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) in a specific setting but will experience working in alternative settings and clinical placements in order that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.

At the end of the programme, the apprentice will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a Registered Nurse and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.

The apprentice will have an apprenticeship commitment agreement approved by both LCHS and the University of Lincoln. The apprentice will be required to achieve the standards as set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the University of Lincoln and the Institute of Apprenticeships. Who is this apprenticeship for?

This is a developmental role. The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of Healthcare Assistant Practitioner through successful completion of the Healthcare Practitioner Apprenticeship programme, which includes the attainment of an accredited level 5 occupational competence qualification such as a Foundation Degree, other Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education, or the Level 5 Diploma for Assistant Practitioners in Healthcare. For those Assistant Practitioners who wish to progress into Registered Practice, the apprenticeship can provide credits into some Higher Education programmes aligned to professional registration.

The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Healthcare Assistant Practitioner within the service and through completion of the foundation degree apprenticeship programme which may include working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care.

The Healthcare Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and the training provider.

The apprentice will be required to complete an agreed contract approved by both LCHS and the host training provider.

If the post holder is not successful in completing the Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification, then they will revert to the Senior Therapy Assistant role and the job requirements will be detailed within this job description.

The apprentice is required to satisfy all the academic requirements to proceed with each level of learning. This will be passed by the host training provider. Skills or skills obtained with the training provider will be applied in context of a substantive role to enhance personal development.

Successfully qualified staff are also required to meet the professional standards to of the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) to practice.

The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Occupational Therapy within the service and through completion of the degree apprenticeship programme which includes working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care.

The degree apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers.

The apprentice will be based, as an employee within Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) in a specific setting whilst completing this programme. As part of this training programme, the apprentice will experience working in alternative settings and clinical placements across the Lincolnshire system and beyond. This will provide a wider appreciation of the impact and influence of the profession.

The apprentice will be required to complete an agreed contract approved by both LCHS and the host Higher Education provider.

Whilst in work, the apprentice will work as an integrated member of the therapy team delivering person centred care. They will focus on clinical and rehabilitation interventions, enabling individuals to achieve their optimum physical, psychological, social, and emotional wellbeing under the support of a registered practitioner.

As the apprenticeship proceeds, the apprentice will follow a graded approach towards managing a clinical caseload to a high professional standard. Guidance on academic and work-based issues will be readily available from senior colleagues as necessary.

The apprentice will be required to work towards the planning and provision of a therapy plan that promotes the development of a personalised plan. This should focus on the restoration and rehabilitation of the individual in maximising choice whilst aiming for maximum potential.

The apprentice will work towards the goal of becoming an autonomous registered therapist and be responsible for the promotion of Occupational Therapy within the wider organisation

Under supervision, the apprentice will support and work progressively towards meeting agreed waiting time standards. Throughout the apprenticeship the apprentice would be expected to develop a comprehensive awareness and application of the prioritisation process.

The apprentice is required to satisfy all the academic requirements to proceed with each level of learning. This will be passed by the host HEI. Skills obtained at the university will be applied in context of a substantive role to enhance personal development. The apprentice is also required to successfully complete all placement modules.

As part of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team the apprentice is required to ensure that occupational therapy is fully integrated into the patient’s care. The apprentice will be required to coordinate and participate team multi-disciplinary meetings. Relevant documentation will be completed in a timely manner.

The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Physiotherapy within the service and through completion of the degree apprenticeship programme which includes working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care.

The degree apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers.

The apprentice will be based, as an employee within Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) in a specific setting whilst completing this programme.   • BTEC National/Extended Diploma DDM
  • Access to HE Diploma (Health or Science related pathway) - Pass with 60 credits overall: 45 credits at level 3 with 12 at Distinction and 24 at Merit.
  • If applying with an Access course, you only need GCSE mathematics and English language at grade C/4 or above. You are not required to hold three GCSEs in total
  • For applicants who do not meet typical Level 3 qualifications who have relevant and sufficient experience * can still apply by successfully completing a portfolio of evidence set by our university admissions team (the same GCSE qualifications are still required)

Level 6 Speech and language Therapy Degree

Who is this apprenticeship for?

The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Apprentice is part of LCHS NHS Trust ‘Growing our Future’ Strategy. They will be part of the Adult SLT team, providing assessment and intervention for patients with a range of communication and/or swallowing difficulties, in both acute and community settings countywide.

Patient interventions may occur within an out-patient setting, hospital ward or within the patient’s own home depending on the area of work.

The SLT Apprentice will work towards under supervision:

  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients with speech, language, communication and/ or eating/ drinking/ swallowing difficulties.
  • Providing a clinical service to a designated caseload, in a location most suited to meeting the client’s needs

Who is this apprenticeship for?

This is a developmental role. The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of Physician Associate through successful completion of the Level 7 MSc Physician Associate Apprenticeship programme, which includes the attainment of an accredited Diploma or MSc in Physician Associate Studies.

The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Physician Associate within the service and through completion of the level 7 Masters apprenticeship programme which may include working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care. Upon successful completion Apprentices are required to register with the Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR) which is held by the Faculty of Physician Associates and anticipated to transfer into the agreed statutory register.

The Physician Associate provides care for the presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment, through to the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care including management plans The Physician Associate Apprentice will work towards demonstrating critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients. (Under supervision)

  • GCSE in Maths and English grades A-C/4-9 or Functional skills numeracy and literacy at level 2
  • You will hold current registration with one of the statutory regulators of health and care professions
  • Working towards Safeguarding- level 3 or willingness to undertake.
  • Working towards Teaching and Assessing course (e.g., Mentor Preparation, SLIP, Clinical Educator course, PGCE), SSSA or a willingness to complete.
  • Working towards Highly developed specialist knowledge in a relevant field

Integrated Degree Apprenticeship for Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Level 7

Who is this apprenticeship for?

The apprentice will be working towards, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making in building bases, patients home addresses, over the telephone or via video consultation under supervision where appropriate.

The apprentice will be based in a host area of work but may be expected to work within other areas of the trust.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACPA) will use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients in their area under supervision where appropriate. The ACPA is working towards accountability for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions. In addition to this the ACPA is working towards responsibility for appropriately referring patients to relevant specialities for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations as well as facilitating safe patient discharge under supervision where appropriate.

The APAP post holder will be a 1st level registered nurse/ registered healthcare professional and work working towards the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent at MSc level (as confirmed by HEI). They will work towards been an independent Non-Medical Prescriber registered with the NMC or equivalent professional body. They will put into practice new skills acquired at an advanced level demonstrating in depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of their speciality, encompassing advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and clinical management skills that are evidence based and deliver high quality patient centred care under supervision where appropriate.

The post holder will work towards having a Trust-wide responsibility to promote clinical excellence in the care of patients presenting to their area by providing clinical advice and support to nursing staff and other health care professionals. They will provide expert professional and independent clinical care which enables the coordination of a multi professional seamless service for patients under supervision where appropriate.

This will include working towards developing audit and research projects and participating in up-dating and implementing departmental policies, protocols, and guidelines, in line with national guidance and contemporary evidence. The role is 80% clinical practice and the further 20% will be split between the remaining 3 pillars – research, leadership and management and education.

The ACPA will have protected time to maintain and further develop their professional competence. They will have annual appraisal/PDR from medical/nursing/AHP supervisors. The ACPA will also work towards providing ongoing supervision and support, participating in the induction and training of nursing and medical staff under supervision where appropriate. Aiming to become a senior member of the team, the ACPA will also play a pivotal role in the operational development of their specialty. They will work towards initiating, managing, and driving change within the department, innovating changes in practice for the benefit of patient care in line with current trust and local programmes.

The ACPA will undertake the role in accordance with Trust and Departmental guidelines but have freedom to act within broad policies and protocols, in accordance with professional responsibilities and boundaries.
