Gary Cooke, 53, from Bourne in Lincolnshire, suffered a cardiac event in 2022 and was referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, he then attended the cardiac rehabilitation exercise class in Bourne.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) runs the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service in Lincolnshire, which brings together a wide range of advice and support including, medical treatment, education, counselling, psychological support, exercise advice and healthy eating.
Following Gary’s recovery, he has held multiple fundraising events to thank the team and give back to the NHS.
Paula Groves, Assistant Practitioner for LCHS’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Service said: “Thank you so much to Gary and everyone else who supported this event. It’s fantastic to see that our service has had such an impact on Gary that he wanted to support it by providing equipment.
“This generous donation will benefit future patients attending our services and we have already seen how much impact it has had.”
The most recent activity Gary organised was a local fundraising snooker event which raised just over £1,000 for Lincolnshire NHS Charity.
Lincolnshire NHS Charity is an independent charity that supports innovative projects to enhance services and facilities that would not be funded by the NHS.
The team has used the money to purchase a new rowing machine that will be used for cardiac rehabilitation patients on the exercise programme in Bourne.
Gary said: “I’m so thankful to the whole team for their support during my recovery and I’m so happy that I can give back to the team and help other patients on their journey.
“I would also like to thank the Spalding and District Snooker League at Bourne Pyramid Snooker Club who kindly supported this event.”
