Claim Victory and Stub Out Your Smoking Habit This No Smoking Day

Smokers in Lincolnshire are being urged to show fighting spirit in the battle against cigarettes this No Smoking Day.

The annual event, which takes place on March 12, is calling for smokers to take inspiration to quit from the national 'V for Victory' campaign.

In Lincolnshire, the Smokefree Lincs Alliance, supported by the Royal Air Force's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, is marking the occasion with a series of 1940s-themed events across the county.

Each event will give smokers the help and support they need from a range of organisations, including the Phoenix Stop Smoking Service, Smokefree Homes and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, to live a smoke-free life.

Kelly Waldie, Social Marketing Officer for the Phoenix Stop Smoking Service, which is part of Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said: "Lincolnshire has a wonderful war-time heritage and we've had great fun in bringing this year's theme to life with thanks to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

"We hope it captures the imagination of smokers to give them the courage and inspiration they need to quit. There will be lots of information at each event about how to make your quit journey as smooth as possible. By quitting with the support of Phoenix, you are four times more likely to succeed than if you go it alone."

Yvonne Masters, of RAF BBMF, said: "RAF BBMF are pleased to be able to support this project and hope it is very successful and effective in helping people of the county give up smoking."

If you would like free, non-judgemental advice and support to quit for this No Smoking Day, contact the Phoenix Stop Smoking Service on 0800 840 1533 or text 'VICTORY' to 07786 205128. Alternatively, call in to see a Phoenix advisor at Health Shops in Lincoln, Gainsborough or Skegness.
