Dying Matters Information Session - Stamford Hospital, May 15

Posted on: 13th May 2014

'You only die once' is the important message specialist nurses from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) will be giving through Dying Matters week.

The national awareness week, which runs from May 12-18, aims to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards dying, death and bereavement.

Cheryl Kern, Community Macmillan Specialist Nurse at LCHS, said: "We want to get as many people as possible thinking, talking and taking action during Dying Matters Awareness Week. Even just having a chat with family, friends or colleagues about the importance of preparing for death can change perceptions."

Cheryl and fellow Macmillan Nurse Specialist Carol Gent will be in the entrance at Stamford Hospital on May 15 from 10am-1pm, with a host of information to help you talk about your wishes towards the end of your life and how to access bereavement support.

Cheryl added: "There are a range of support services available in Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas to help you prepare for death. Anyone with questions who can't come and visit on Thursday can access signposting and support through their nurse or GP."
