Posted on: 8th February 2016
Budding writer Ella Holbrook from Holbeach won a completion to have her blog entry featured on the new Healthy Teens website.
The competition, created by LCHS was looking for young people of 14 years and above, to submit a blog-style piece of writing on a topic which was important to them.
Ella, who is studying history, geography and law at A-Level at Spalding Grammar School said: “My mum saw the competition in this newspaper and told me I should enter. I’m thrilled to have won – I definitely wasn’t expecting that!
“I don’t feel there is enough information out there for teens with mental health concerns and lots of people don’t take these issues seriously, especially adults. This website will hopefully provide lots of useful and relevant information for teenagers across Lincolnshire.”
Ella’s winning blog entry is featured on the newly launched Lincolnshire Healthy Teens website and the 17-year-old also received a £50 Odeon cinema voucher as part of her prize.
Kelly Waldie, Social Marketing Project Officer for LCHS said: “We received some strong entries for the competition but Ella’s piece was really fantastic. Her passion and enthusiasm for mental health awareness and issues in teens really shone throughout her piece.”
