Free 'It's a Dad Thing' event coming to Lincolnshire
Posted on: 1st June 2017
Activities and support for dads and other male role models is the focus of a special event being held in Lincoln in June.
'It's a Dad Thing' will give dads - and the whole family - a chance to enjoy fun and interactive activities, while meeting experts covering a range of topics at the Engine Shed on Sunday, June 11.
The free event, which will run from 11am until 3pm, has been organised by Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS).
The event will be sectioned into different 'zones' all centred on different topics, including health, wellbeing and fitness, mental health and safety. There will also be a craft zone and chill out area for the children to get involved with potting plants and getting crafty, plus the opportunity to have their photo taken with Lincoln City Football Club's Imp mascot.
Each zone will consist of a variety of stalls and will have experts on hand to answer any questions.
Leanne Mchugh, practice educator for Universal Children's Services 0-19 at LCHS, said: "The day is aimed at any type of father-figure, such as a grandad, male carer, uncle or step-dad and their families. We want the event to help encourage dads to parent to the best of their ability, while thinking about their own health and wellbeing."
In addition to visiting information stalls, there is also the opportunity to win a family activity pass from Activities Away and get a free book from Bookstart.
Anita Wood, strategic lead for Universal Children's Services 0-19 at LCHS, said: "This is a fantastic event for the dads of Lincolnshire and their families. There are a number of great organisations and professionals joining us on the day with a wealth of knowledge, including health visitors and therapists. We would like this to become an annual event, as it is so important to involve fathers in all aspects of parenthood and inform them what services are available to support them as well as their families."
