Help Shape Childhood Vaccination Services in Lincolnshire

Local NHS leaders would like to know your views on how childhood vaccination services are currently delivered and how they could be improved in your area.

There are a couple of ways people can have their say.

A patient survey is available online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KD6WV5N or alternatively patients can attend an informal group discussion.

Children under five in England are given a range of vaccinations to protect them from a number of infectious diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib, a bacterial infection that can cause severe pneumonia or meningitis in young children), rotavirus, pneumococcus and meningococcal group C bacteria.

These vaccinations are quick, safe and extremely effective. Once your child has been vaccinated against a disease, their body can fight that disease more effectively if they come into contact with it. If a child isn't vaccinated, they will be at increased risk of catching the illness.

Tim Davies, Screening and Immunisation Lead for NHS England (Leicestershire and Lincolnshire) said: “Getting your child vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect your child from a range of serious and potentially fatal diseases. We want to know how we can make it easier for parents and carers to get their children vaccinated. Whether you have had your child vaccinated recently or not, everyone’s view is important. Please let us know what you think by completing the patient questionnaire or contact the team to participate in an informal group discussion.”

The survey is available until 9am on June 9, 2014, and spaces for the informal group discussion close on May 23, 2014.
