Hop on your Bike for The Butterfly Hospice's 'Big Bike Ride'

Posted on: 18th August 2016

This September, the Butterfly Hospice will be hosting it's annual 'Big Bike Ride' to raise funds to provide end of life care for south east Lincolnshire.

The event, which takes place on Sunday, September 25, will allow cyclists to choose from a range of distances, suitable for all ages and abilities, from families and intermediate cyclists, to more experienced riders looking for a challenge.

The short nine mile route will take you from Boston, along the River Witham, and is ideal for all the family, including children who are proficient cyclists.

If you're looking to test your fitness and stamina, the 33 mile route from Lincoln to Boston may provide the perfect challenge. For a small donation of £2.50, The Butterfly Trust is able to assist riders transporting their bikes to the start line.

The third, and final route is the ultimate challenge of 66 miles, taking the rider from Boston to Lincoln and back again.

All routes follow the River Witham along the Water Rail Way, and finish at Boston Town Football Club on Tattershall Road.

Laura Slayven, Butterfly Hospice Trust Fundraising Manager, said: "The Big Bike Ride is a fun way for people to get involved in raising money for the Butterfly Hospice.

"Events like this are so important for the hospice. Without the continued support and fundraising by the local community we would not be able to provide our care free of cost to patients and their families."

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) works in partnership with the Butterfly Hospice Trust to provide palliative, end of life and respite care at the hospice's six-bed inpatient unit for adults with life-limiting illness.
