Hospice To Celebrate Life By Filling The Sky With Butterflies

Posted on: 11th May 2016

The sky across the county is to be filled with butterflies this coming July.

The Butterfly Hospice in Boston is hosting its annual butterfly release on Sunday, July 3. The releases will be taking place across the county throughout the day.

The first releases will take place at Westwood Lakes in Boston and The Crown Hotel in Skegness at 11:30am before Springfield's Festival Gardens in Spalding is home to a release at 2pm.

Laura Slayven, Fundraising Manager at the Hospice said: "This very special event is an opportunity to come together and release hundreds of butterflies in a 'celebration of life' or in 'memory of your loved one.

"Thank you to Westwood Lakes who continue to support us by giving access to such beautiful surroundings to release the butterflies. The Crown Hotel, Skegness and Springfield's Festival Gardens, Spalding will also be offering their wonderful facilities for a release."

Working in partnership with Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and The Butterfly Hospice Trust, the hospice provides palliative, end of life and respite care in an informal and clinically based environment for adults with life-limiting illness.

When the Hospice opened it gave local people and families access and choice to palliative care close to their home. The hospice understands how much this means to people and is keen to raise awareness that this valuable service exists. The staff and volunteer teams work closely with the clinical team to provide the care people need.
