Join in No Smoking Day Celebrations in Lincoln This Saturday, March 8
Posted on: 5th March 2014
Visitors to Lincoln are being invited to join the Phoenix NHS Stop Smoking Service in the 1940s-themed No Smoking Day celebrations this Saturday.
A host of entertainment and information about how to create a smokefree environment for yourself and your family will be on offer in City Square and the Waterside Shopping Centre.
From 10am-3pm, immerse yourself in 1940s spirit for this year's national 'V for Victory' theme with the help of entertainment from dance demonstrators Major Swing, lindy hop dancers and live singing.
Our partners from the Smokefree Lincs Alliance and Smokefree Homes will be with Phoenix throughout the day to help visitors with their No Smoking Day pledges.
Stephanie Heathcote, Smoking Cessation Lead for the Phoenix NHS Stop Smoking Service, which is part of Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said: "We hope this No Smoking Day will give smokers the courage and inspiration they need to start their quit journey. In the Lincoln area, 26 per cent of adults smoke, and our specialist Phoenix advisors give free, non-judgemental support and advice to smokers who feel ready to quit.
"We have fantastic teams across Lincolnshire who can tailor a programme to suit individual needs. You don't have to struggle to quit on your own."
Anyone who would like support with their quit this No Smoking Day can call the Phoenix NHS Stop Smoking Service on 0800 8401533 or text 'VICTORY' to 07786 205128. Alternatively, call in to see a Phoenix advisor at Health Shops in Lincoln, Gainsborough or Skegness.
