LCHS welcomes new chairperson

Malcolm Burch is the acting chair for Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) as appointed by NHS England.  

LCHS provides community-based health care services across the county to help people live independently at home including urgent care, therapy services, speech and language services, community nursing and services at four community hospitals. 

Malcolm is not new to LCHS, he started as a non-executive director in 2021 and recently worked as the deputy chair, so he already knows the organisation, services LCHS runs and board of directors he will be working with.  

Malcolm is currently employed as the chief executive and monitoring officer for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and will continue this role, alongside being the acting chair for LCHS.  

Malcolm said: “I am delighted to take on the LCHS Chair role. I am passionate about the NHS and community services. Throughout my career, I have focused on involving the public in service provision and supporting NHS services to continuously improve performance and achieve better patient outcomes. 

“This is a crucial time for the NHS where exemplary and seamless patient care can only be delivered through partnership working within Lincolnshire NHS and beyond. The role of community services in ensuring patients receive care closer to home is more vital than ever, and I will work to support the incredible and dedicated LCHS staff to deliver and develop community care services in Lincolnshire and beyond.” 

Malcolm’s career spans universities, local government, policing and the NHS. Throughout his career, he has been focused on involving the public in service provision and supporting better performance and improved outcomes. 

In the NHS, he was a non-executive director in Lincolnshire's mental health trust for six years and before that spent four years as a commissioner as part of a Primary Care Trust in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

Malcolm started his acting chair role on Saturday, 1 April.
