Lincoln Speech and Language Therapist scoops national NHS award

Angela Shimada, Neighbourhood Lead for Lincoln South, has won the Allied Health Profession Leader of the year award. Allied health professions (AHPs) are the third largest workforce in the NHS and consist of 14 distinct professions from art therapists to dietitians and paramedics. *
Angela, who lives and works in Lincoln, attended the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer Awards in London on Wednesday, 17 July with her colleagues.
She won the award for her work as chair of the Lincolnshire AHP Council and co-chair of the Lincolnshire Clinical Cabinet. Angela was commended for excellent leadership skills; steadfast commitment, limitless energy and inspiring ideas all in the name of celebrating everything allied health professions.
Angela said: “I am overwhelmed to have received this award. Great leadership is so important and should be central to everything we do.
“I am incredibly lucky to work with so many fantastic AHPs in Lincolnshire, it’s a great place to live and work.”
Anita Cooper, Clinical Lead – Therapies and Rehabilitation Medicine, who nominated Angela for the award along with other members of the Lincolnshire AHP Council added: “Angela has harnessed passion, commitment and enthusiasm from a range of colleagues across a number of organisations.
“Angela’s leadership has a positive impact on patient care. She truly deserves this award.”
Neighbourhood working provides a collaborative approach to delivering local services and joined up support for people locally. This includes involvement from health, social care, voluntary organisations and charities. This ensures everyone will work together to find solutions to health and wellbeing challenges in Lincolnshire.
