Lincolnshire NHS celebrate apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week
Posted on: 6th February 2023
During National Apprenticeship Week 2023, team members from the Lincolnshire Health and Care Apprenticeship Centre are traveling the county celebrating the phenomenal achievements of the trust’s apprentices.
The Lincolnshire Health and Care Apprenticeship Centre is part of Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS). Earlier this year the trusts achieved a status of main provider by the Education and Skills Funding Agency. This means that the team can deliver apprenticeships to LCHS staff, volunteers and those who would like to join the trust, making it much easier and more accessible for those wanting to start their career in the NHS. The centre can deliver a number of different qualifications for clinical and non-clinical apprenticeships at different levels.
Gemma Adams joined LCHS in 2011, as a bank healthcare support worker. Gemma has completed several different healthcare apprenticeships throughout her career with LCHS and is now a qualified registered nurse.
Gemma said: “When I was younger, I always wanted to be a nurse and make a difference to people’s lives. I became a mum at the age of 19 and I’ve never been financially stable to do my nursing qualification. Now the apprenticeship route has become available, it has enabled people like me to achieve their dreams and aspirations.”
Lee Gifford, Apprenticeship Lead at LCHS, said: “We are so excited to be visiting different places across Lincolnshire, celebrating and recognising the achievements of apprentices. I am incredibly proud of all our apprentices. I’ve seen how far they have grown in confidence and developed their skills; it really is amazing to see”.
Apprenticeships are a fantastic route for people, they offer people of all ages the chance to earn while they learn and build a successful career.
