New Facilities and Improved Service in Gainsborough

Patients in Gainsborough will benefit from new rehabilitation facilities and an improved service, thanks to a move to bring two teams together.
The town's community nursing team and therapy teams have moved into a newly refurbished home in the Morton Centre at John Coupland Hospital.
The teams from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) provide care in patients' homes and clinics, while therapy teams both from the community and on the hospital's Scotter Ward help rehabilitate through physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
The Morton Centre has been refurbished to provide a new gym space for therapy treatment sessions and a hand therapy and treatment room, there is also a new clinic room, while its assisted kitchen, used for therapeutic assessments, has also been updated. The facilities are used by patients on Scotter Ward and those attending community clinics.
The centre also provides a dedicated shared office space for the teams.
Ruth Dymock, Gainsborough's Community Nursing Team Lead at LCHS, said: "Providing the best possible care to our patients is our priority and this move allows our two teams to develop a much closer working relationship. For our patients, this will mean we can access services and advice to complement their care more effectively."
Louise Barlow, Specialist Community Physiotherapist at LCHS, added: "The new patient therapy facilities are already making a positive difference to patient rehabilitation. This, along with integrating the community nursing team and therapy teams, is helping to provide more seamless and holistic care for our patients."
