Nurses Support Ramp Up The Red

Posted on: 5th February 2014

Specialist heart failure nurses from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) will be supporting the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) Ramp up the Red campaign this Friday.

Jane Scrafton and Lisa Roxburgh, Heart Failure Complex Case Managers LCHS, will be backing the BHF campaign through a cocktail and canapés evening at Craft Bar and Kitchen on High Street, Lincoln.

The event aims to help raise awareness of heart health in Lincoln.

Jane said: "We have seven community heart failure nurses across the county at LCHS who are supported by the BHF. Our service aims to help patients manage unstable heart failure at home whenever possible and avoid lengthy hospital stays. Last year in the Lincoln area alone, we provided care to 355 people and made more than 1,300 home visits.

"The BHF support our education, which in the past has helped to improve our palliative care knowledge and to fund research for Masters degrees. This is an opportunity not only for us to raise money for an important cause, but also to raise awareness of heart health."

Tickets for the evening cost £5 and include one cocktail and canapés, with £3 from each ticket sold going to the Ramp up the Red campaign. Alternatively, guests can buy a £10 ticket and take part in a 30-minute cocktail masterclass, where they can mix their own cocktail. There will be three alcoholic red cocktails and one non-alcoholic red cocktails to choose from.

Raffle tickets will also be available to buy throughout the evening, with lots of donated prizes up for grabs, including a night at the Hilton, a steak night at Craft, clothing vouchers, contemporary jewellery, homewares and chocolates.

Jane added: "We'd like to thank John O'Donoghue at Craft for kindly providing the venue, and to all of the local businesses who have donated raffle prizes in support of the event. We hope to see lots of people on the night to celebrate Ramp up the Red."

Tickets are available from Craft Bar and Kitchen, with the event taking place between 5.15-8.30pm on Friday, February 7. Further details can be found at www.facebook.com/lincolnredday/events
