One week left to get a Covid-19 vaccination
Posted on: 24th January 2025
The current Covid-19 vaccination campaign will come to an end in just over one week’s time on Friday 31st January.
This obviously means that anyone eligible who is yet to have a Covid-19 vaccination has a limited amount of time to get one.
“We are delighted that more than 170,000 Covid-19 vaccinations have been given in Lincolnshire since the current campaign began on the 3rd October last year, meaning a significant number of our eligible population have had the benefit of maximum protection against Covid-19 over the winter months,” comments Steve Clapton, Head of Immunisation and Screening, NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
“Whilst numbers of Covid-19 cases are now reducing, I would still urge anyone yet to be vaccinated who would like to be to make arrangements as soon as possible and certainly before 31st January.”
You can find more information about how to get a Covid-19 vaccination by visiting NHS Lincolnshire ICB’s website which includes a helpful link to find a walk-in Covid-19 vaccination site. Alternatively, you can call 119 who will be able to help you find a walk-in vaccination site.
It has been confirmed that Covid-19 vaccinations will be available again later this spring, in the meantime the focus of the NHS in Lincolnshire remains on reminding people that, if eligible, they can get a flu vaccination until 31st March.
“Flu cases are now decreasing rapidly both in Lincolnshire and regionally, and we expect this trend to continue over the next couple of weeks,” adds Steve. “However, hospital admissions generally remain considerably higher than the same time last year and there are still people in hospital with flu, although they are not necessarily in hospital because of flu.
Flu vaccinations are available from some local pharmacies, and it is possible to telephone 119 and be signposted to the pharmacy closest to you. Alternatively, you can search online for a local pharmacy offering flu vaccinations.
As well as flu and Covid-19, people with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are being reminded they are at high risk during the colder winter months and, if they haven’t already done so and are eligible, should have the one-off pneumococcal vaccination, which is available from GP practices and local community pharmacies that offer a vaccination service.
