Lincolnshire's largest provider of community healthcare has pledged to improve dementia care as part of NHS Change Day.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) is encouraging its staff to support the pledge as part of the national awareness day on March 3.
NHS Change Day aims to inspire staff, patients and the public to do something better together - no matter how big or small - to improve care.
Lisa Green, Deputy Chief Nurse at LCHS, said: "Dementia is a global challenge, and in Lincolnshire we are already working with the county's other NHS providers and other key partners to ensure we can provide a seamless service for local people.
"Through NHS Change Day on March 3, we are asking our staff to reaffirm their commitment and take a few minutes to think about dementia care and the difference they can make as an individual, whether that be improving their own knowledge or making sure they are putting that expertise into practice."
As part of the trust's commitment to dementia care, all staff who see or treat patients are undertaking dementia awareness training.
Over the coming months, LCHS will be establishing a dementia champions network, with the aim of having a champion in every service. Staff are also using 'This is Me' documentation, which allows them to plan care with a clear understanding of a patients' needs, preferences, likes, dislikes and interests.
The trust is also a member of the Dementia Action Alliance, where more than 900 organisations have come together to work towards a shared vision developed by people with dementia and their family carers.
