Respiratory Physiotherapy

Alert

Specialist services are now planning for restoration and recovery.

During this period we continue to triage patients referred to us offering support via education leaflets, websites, telephone and digital consultations. Face to face home visits are available for essential visits only.

The Respiratory Physiotherapy Service is responsible for individuals diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Description of Service

The service exists to assess, treat, and educate patients in the management of breathlessness and sputum clearance.

Elements of the Service

The patient has an initial assessment by one of the team’s specialist clinicians. This is usually carried out in the patient’s home. They will then, as appropriate, be provided with one-to-one advice/treatment.

At any stage of the service, patients can be signposted, where necessary, to other healthcare providers for any other identified need.

Supporting literature or advice leaflets can be supplied to support our interventions.
