Annual Audit Letters
The Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust Board has appointed the company, KPMG, as the trust’s external auditor for the next three financial years.
The company will be responsible for reviewing the trust’s accounts from April 2017 to March 2020, and the appointment includes an option to extend the contract for a further two years.
This follows changes to the local external audit arrangements which NHS trusts and clinical commissioning groups must abide by. Under the Local Audit Accountability Act 2014, each organisation must appoint its own external auditors.
The roles and responsibilities of the auditors are set out in the act.
KPMG was appointed following a procurement process in line with Department of Health guidance. The trust’s Auditor Panel recommended the appointment after looking into quality of service, experience and cost of the contract offered by KPMG.
The Annual Audit Letter summarises the key issues arising from KPMG's audit at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust. Although this letter is addressed to the directors of the trust, it is also intended to communicate these issues to external stakeholders, such as members of the public.
In the letter KPMG highlights areas of good performance and also provides recommendations to help the trust improve performance. They have reported all the issues in this letter to the Trust during the year and have provided a list of their reports in Appendix B.
All tender processes (Category A) undertaken by the Commercial Contracts Department on behalf of Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust for all current and future tenders will be advertised on Source East Midlands.
