Scarbrough Ward Therapy Dog Fundraising
In April 2021 the team at Skegness Hospital Scarbrough Ward began their fundraising mission to raise enough money to purchase a Labrador puppy.
They undertook a 24-hour bike-a-thon, a skydive, hosted raffles, and obtained sponsorship from local businesses raising over £3,500 to date.
In summer 2021 a very energetic puppy joined the team and began training to become a fully qualified therapy dog. The puppy has been named Rammie after Dr Ram who works at Scarbrough Ward.

NHS Big Tea 2021
On the 5th July 2021 our staff, patients, and the public celebrated the anniversary of the NHS with Big Tea parties across the county. Over £2750 was raised in total by everyone that got involved with the celebrations!
At the time of the NHS Big Tea in 2021 the NHS remained under tight restrictions on gatherings, mask wearing, and shared food. This was quite a challenge for staff members hosting a fundraising tea party. However our staff clearly love a challenge as they thought of creative ways of safely celebrating the anniversary of the NHS. The Learning Disability Service hosted a virtual event for their team members where hot drinks and packs of biscuits were posted to staff to enjoy during an online tea party hosted on Microsoft Teams. Discovery House hosted a tea party, quiz and raffle which was enjoyed by their staff and service users.
Christmas Fundraising
Fundraising at Christmas was limited due to covid-19 restrictions however, staff got involved with creating a virtual Christmas fundraising party, raffles, and wearing Christmas jumpers!
Langworth Ward Flower Appeal
During the summer of 2021 we asked staff, patients and members of the public to get involved with our Langworth Ward handmade flower appeal. We received an abundance of handcrafted flowers which have been carefully put together by the patients of the ward and displayed in the courtyard area at Witham Court.2
Charity Football Match
In March 2022, staff from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust came together to play a charity football match at Lincoln FC raising money for Lincolnshire NHS Charity and United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity.
The charity exists to enhance and improve patient experience by providing things like additional equipment, extra training or by improving the surroundings for service users and staff. Here are some examples of how donations have been used to improve patient experiences and staff wellbeing during 2021-22.
